Índia vai liberar doses da vacina de Oxford ao Brasil nesta sexta-feira

Uma parte dos imbróglios diplomáticos que impedem a chegada de mais vacinas ao Brasil parece estar solucionado. Como informa a agência Reuters, a Índia aprovou a exportação das doses da vacina de Oxford compradas pelo governo federal, e as entregas serão realizadas a partir de sexta-feira (22)

As doses em questão são da vacina desenvolvida pela farmacêutica AstraZeneca em parceria com a Universidade de Oxford e produzidas no Instituto Serum. Elas foram pivô de um desentendimento, quando o governo federal chegou a adesivar um avião para buscar o carregamento na Ásia, mas antes da decolagem chegou a informação de que as vacinas ainda não estavam liberadas para exportação.

O acordo entre Brasil e Índia prevê a entrega de 2 milhões de doses já prontas da vacina, que já receberam a aprovação de uso emergencial da Anvisa durante o último fim de semana. Chegando ao país, elas já estariam adequadas para distribuição.

O problema com a Índia é que o país havia limitado a exportação de vacinas enquanto não começasse sua própria campanha de vacinação interna. Após esta marca, iniciou a distribuição para países vizinhos aliados, como Butão, Bangladesh e Nepal gratuitamente. Chamou a atenção, naquele momento, que o Brasil estava fora da lista de destinatários, já que elas já estavam pagas.

Com a chegada de mais 2 milhões de doses da vacina de Oxford, será possível aumentar em 1 milhão a base de vacinados, pressupondo uma distribuição de duas doses por pessoa, como recomendado na bula. Elas se juntarão aos 6 milhões de doses da CoronaVac já em distribuição e a outras 4,8 milhões que buscam aprovação da Anvisa. Somando tudo, seriam 12,8 milhões de doses no primeiro momento.

O Programa Nacional de Imunizações prevê que a primeira fase da vacinação será destinada a profissionais da saúde, ao mesmo tempo em que estão inclusos idosos com mais 75 anos ou com mais de 60 anos que estejam institucionalizados (em asilos), além de grupos indígenas, quilombolas e populações ribeirinhas. O Ministério da Saúde estima que este grupo inclua 14,8 milhões de pessoas, o que requeriria 31,2 milhões de doses (presumindo perda operacional de 5%). Assim, as doses disponíveis representam pouco mais de um terço do necessário para a primeira fase.

O governo contava com vacinas processadas localmente, pelo Instituto Butantan e pela Fiocruz, para alavancar a disponibilidade de vacina contra Covid-19 no Brasil. No entanto, os insumos previstos para a produção tanto mais doses da CoronaVac, quanto da vacina de Oxford, estão retidos na China, ainda sem previsão de liberação.
