Democrata chegou a 274 votos no colégio eleitoral, segundo projeção da agência Associated Press. Outros veículos com apurações paralelas, como CNN, New York Times e NBC também apontam vitória de Biden.
O democrata Joe Biden alcançou os 270 delegados no Colégio Eleitoral nesta sexta-feira (6), segundo projeções da agência de notícias Associated Press (AP), número suficiente para derrotar o republicano Donald Trump e se sagrar o 46º presidente dos Estados Unidos.
A projeção é gerada por cálculos da AP e não vale como oficial. Geralmente, esse tipo de projeção é suficiente para que a sociedade americana reconheça a eleição de um presidente.
Mas, neste ano, a campanha de Trump alega que a eleição está sendo roubada e promete ações na Justiça para impedir que Biden vença. A campanha republicana pediu recontagem em Wisconsin e tenta suspender a apuração na Pensilvânia, na Geórgia e em Michigan.
Também pediu interferência em um caso pendente na Suprema Corte dos EUA sobre a Pensilvânia, um estado importante da disputa que ainda está contando centenas de milhares de cédulas enviadas pelo correio. O republicano tenta impedir que o estado conte votos que cheguem depois da eleição.
Essas manobras judiciais de Trump ocorreram após ataques do republicano contra a integridade da votação, ao mesmo tempo em que declarou vitória e sugeriu — sem comprovação — que os democratas tentariam fraudar a eleição.
Trump está tentando evitar se tornar o primeiro presidente em exercício dos EUA a perder uma candidatura à reeleição desde George H.W. Bush, em 1992.
